Dear dancers, dance groups, amateurs or enthusiasts,

We invite you to participate in the first Rijeka KPOP Dance competition - a Korean pop dance competition. The competition is open to all age groups and styles, from original choreographies to cover dance groups, regardless of whether it is a local or international dance group.

The goal of this competition is to promote Asian culture and dance as a universal language and art form that connects us regardless of cultural differences. In addition, we are looking forward to the exchange of experiences among the dancers and opening the way to a new kind of socializing at the fantasy convention.

The winner of the competition is announced by the jury and the audience, so don't forget to invite your friends and family to support you in the competition.

The competition itself takes place on Friday, September 29, 2023, in the evening, at Rikon (Rijeka University Campus).

The announcement of the winner and the awarding of cups and prize packages will be made immediately after the end of the competition, on Friday, September 29. in the evening. All competitors are requested to be present at Rikon during the awards ceremony.

Applications and registration fee

• Applications for the competition are made exclusively through the online application form available on this website.
• Applications are received by Wednesday, September 18, 2023. (23:59), so that the organizers can process the applications and prepare the technical needs of the competition.
• The registration fee for the competition is €7 per person, per category, and all competitors receive a free weekend entrance to the Rikon convention.
• A competitor can register in several categories, and he pays a separate registration fee for each application.
• The competitor's escort or family buys a ticket for Rikon like other visitors, according to the price list. Tickets are not limited.
• Each registration will be assigned a start number. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received and are limited by the amount of performance time available, so please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

Competition categories

• Competitors can register in one of three competition categories:
• solo (1 dancer), performance lasting 1:00 to 2:00 min.
• duo/trio (2 or 3 dancers) performance lasting 1:00 to 3:00 min.
• group (5-7 dancers) performance lasting 2:00 to 4:00 min.

• It is mandatory to upload the music file for the dance part in the application form. The file must be as long as the permitted duration of the dance point according to the category.
• The permitted deviation from the default time limit is 15 seconds.
• The duration of the choreography itself is included in the minutes.
• Entering and exiting the stage is not included in the minutes and must be within 45 seconds.
• The judging panel awards one prize in each category for the best performer, and the audience votes for their favorites from each category. In total, 6 prizes are awarded, 3 best chosen by the judges, 3 chosen by the audience.
• The audience uses the Rikon mobile application or access to the voting website via a QR code.

General rules of the competition:

• All competitors must be physically present in Rijeka on Friday, September 29, in the morning hours, in order to be able to do a dress rehearsal in the venue.
• All competitors will be informed in time via email, so enter valid contact information.
• The competition organizers are not responsible for injuries or lost items at competitions. Competitors compete at their own risk.
• Flammable substances, fire and pyrotechnics, as well as vulgar expressions are prohibited.
• The organizers and the panel of judges reserve the right to award more than one prize, not to award a prize from any category without explanation, or to award a prize for something different than stated, depending on the circumstances, the quantity and quality of competitors and the available budget.

The organizers reserve the right to disqualify competitors in case of:

• Any inappropriate, unprofessional and unsportsmanlike behavior at the event will be punished by disqualification and removal of registered competitors from the competition.
• Abuse of social networks or audience voting systems in a way that directly or indirectly violates the right of all competitors to equal competition conditions.
• Insults, violation of privacy or harassment of others contestants, visitors to the convention or the team of organizers, volunteers and the judging panel.
• That the contestants are closely related, ie in a conflict of interest with the persons in the judging panel of the competition.

The organizers and the panel of judges have the right to subsequently withdraw the prize (publicly and by returning the gift package) if it turns out that the competitor violated these conditions, i.e. intentionally violated the values of the competition and the right of all competitors to a fair and equal competition.

The competitor with the next highest number of points from the judging panel wins the prize in that case, if possible.
