About rikon

Rikon sf&f convention is a unique festival in Rijeka that has been held since 1997, organized by the "3. zmaj" Association. Rikon is the fastest growing and largest fantasy convention in Croatia, and it carries behind it a rich tradition of great atmosphere, networking and socializing, fantastic educational lectures and panels, excellent discussions, and a number of top program participants.

Rikon program consists of various educational content (lectures, presentations, creative and practical workshops, content for teenagers, content for children), entertainment content (quizzes, games, gaming zone, board game zone, RiRoll zone, TCG zone, LARP zone) and we host the national Cosplay competition and the SFX MAKEUP competition - the first Croatian film makeup and special effects competition. There is no shortage of other programs at Rikon, such as art exhibitions, stage program and performances, tattoo zone, esports tournaments and tournaments of popular video games, and the merchant stands and sponsor zones are especially noteworthy.

Proof that Rikon is rich in quality programs is shown by the lists of program items from the past years, which clearly value the convention's contribution to the local community. The guests of honor are famous foreign names such as award-winning British writers Adrian Tchaikovsky and Gareth L. Powell, American-French writer Aliette de Bodard, British writer, podcaster and narrator of audio books Emma Newman and Dutch writer Thomas Olde Heuvelt.

Rikon 2020 was the host of the European science fiction convention Eurocon and bore the special name Futuricon. Futuricon was the third Eurocon held in Croatia (after 1986 and 2012) and the first Eurocon whose program was held mostly online.
